A CFM file is a web page that contains ColdFusion or CFML (ColdFusion Markup Language) code. It is dynamically executed by the web server when a user accesses the page.
CFM files can run ColdFusion applications and scripts written in CFScript, and can reference information in the database, generate Flash forms, and create reports on the fly.
For example, the CFM file can generate forms or reports after a user query, as well as information from the reference database.
These forms can be Flash technology.
As soon as a user accesses the web page that contains the CFM file, the web server automatically and dynamically executes the file.
CFM files are 100% text-based, which means that they can be opened as a text file with any text editor, such as Notepad in Windows.
Flash is currently discontinued. You can find more information at Adobe Flash Player EOL General Information Page.
