GME extension files are game files created by DexDrive, a PlayStation card reader used to transfer game save data from PlayStation to PC.
GME can stand for Game Memory Editor and contains the saved information of the game that was on the original memory card.
These files can be opened with DexPlorer, the software included with DexDrive purchases.
DexDrive is, basically, a brand of memory card readers for game consoles that allowed access to data from a PC.
DexDrive products, include software and hardware, and were manufactured by the now defunct InterAct company, for use with PlayStation and Nintendo 64 memory cards.
The hardware was connected to the PC through the serial connector (DB9) and a driver had to be installed to make it work and be able to transfer the GME files.
