DELIVERY-STATUS is not a file or an extension in itself, but it is a notification granted by email servers when there is some unusual status in the process of sending and receiving mail and normally occurs when there is failure in a mail delivery. Generally, the DELIVERY-STATUS appears in the subject of the reply email that you receive as notification and indicates that an email you have sent has not reached its destination for some reason.

This error message usually comes from POSTMASTER, which is a term used to identify the automated administrator of an email server. Almost all internet domains have a POSTMASTER email address, from where errors in email processing are directed. Some mail servers attach, together with the DELIVERY-STATUS notification, the mail sent with the EML extension.
